Shitennoji University is a private college located in the suburbs of Japan’s second largest city, Osaka. Its roots go back to the educational institution founded by Prince Shotoku in 593 A.D. The University offers majors in the humanities, combining a long established tradition of academic excellence and a modern global outlook based on its unique Buddhist spirit of emphasizing harmony and helping others. Shitennoji University produces graduates who are willing to help others in the modern era of globalization, especially in the fields of education and social welfare. Students are encouraged to join overseas study programs the university offers in order to broaden their minds. The university also welcomes international students and offers cross-cultural exchange activities on campus where international students can have many opportunities to interact with Japanese students.
