The International Language Institute (ILI) submitted a reopening plan to the provincial government, and was accepted. So our DLI number was added to the list of accepted DLI on the website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. However, the federal and provincial governments wanted to make sure that the population of our province would be safe even if we have international students coming in. So, we had to change our way of doing things to make sure that the students have safe travel from their country to ours, and a safe stay while studying with us. You need to quarantine in a hotel for 14 nights. Don’t worry, for all the mandatory services required by Health Canada and Nova Scotia Health Department, the cost is very nice. Here are the new steps you need to take to come to study at ILI.
- Fill a registration form to apply to our school and we will send you the invoice.
- After you pay the invoice, we will send the Letter of Acceptance (LOA). You will use that letter to obtain a study permit as usual.
- When you have your study permit, you need to register with the Study Safe Corridor – Safe Travel of Languages Canada. When you register there, you will get
- transportation from the airport to the hotel
- a reservation for a hotel for 14 nights,
- three meals a day
- four weeks of medical insurance covering you if you are sick, including in case you are tested positive for COVID-19
- a sim card for a Canadian phone number that you will need as soon as you arrive in Canada.
- The registration will also gives you the all the the protocols you need to obey, and documents you need to have with you when you arrive in Canada to ease your way in front of the CBSA officer.
- There is an optional part of this procedure: the flight reservation from your country to Halifax.
- When the reservation is done, ILI will receive an email to give us all the information we need: date of arrival, and time, which hotel, phone number, etc.
Located in the heart of Halifax, the International Language Institute is about 2.5 km from Dalhousie University, and Saint Mary’s University, and about 400 meters from the NS College of Art and Design.
With Point Pleasant Park and the Entertainment District on Spring Garden Road within walking distance, ILI is an ideal address for students to study English in Canada.
